BurgerHaus 

Twenty years ago, I met my first Pyr Shep while at a Great Pyrenees picnic. I was immediately fascinated with the breed.  It was right then that I decided that I needed to add one to our home.  I continue to be amazed with these little dogs and what they are able to accomplish.  They are not a breed for everyone.  They are quick learners, but if not properly trained and socialized, they will be a nightmare to live with.  Don't hesitate to ask plenty of questions and visit breeders before you decide.

Mission Statement

Our endeavor here at the BurgerHaus is to breed quality dogs that will enable each and everyone of them to live up to their full potential.

Our puppies are whelped and raised in our home.  An x-pen is set up in the kitchen so they can be a part of the family.  Here they become sensitized to daily noises and people coming and going.  At night or when we are not at home, they go to the puppy room.  This is where the whelping box is kept with another penned area around it.  As they grow, they soon learn to keep their sleeping box clean and use the papered area for business.  In a few weeks time, they follow me from the puppy room to the outdoors to relieve themselves in the grass.  From day one, each one is handled and weighed.  They are given individual playtime with us to strengthen the human bond.  Weather permitting they get to play outdoors.  We have a wide range of toys to entertain them; musical toys, noisy toys, soft tug toys, toys that move, toys that rattle, toys that are just fun for chewing.  The week before they leave us they are sleeping in separate crates to make the adjustment to being alone easier on them.  We try to place our puppies in homes that will help them live up to their full potential, whether it be a show home, or a performance home.  We believe that all dogs are happier when they have a job to do.

The name BurgerHaus came primarily from my genealogy hobby.  In researching my family and my husbands, I found we both have "Berger" ancestors.  Somewhere along the way, the spelling was changed.  BurgerHaus has been my identity for so long that I decided to keep it.  After all, the little Berger's are a part of our family too!
